Board Encouraged by Corner Brook Long-Term Care Announcement
The St. John’s Board of Trade is pleased with today’s announcement by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to partner with the private sector to design, build, finance and maintain a long-term care home in Corner Brook.
“Today marks an important milestone in the provincial government’s way of thinking and we are very encouraged by this.” says Des Whelan, Chair of the St. John’s Board of Trade. “The government has recognized the need for them to partner with the private sector to build infrastructure and provide services in an innovative and cost effective manner.”
In 2015, the St. John’s Board of Trade set a mandate to educate and create awareness on the benefits of partnerships with the private sector. Since that time the Board has engaged experts, held various informational events, and have also advocated to government. Today’s announcement is an important step in government embracing the need for partnerships to appropriately utilize taxpayers’ money.
